Destin Rockets Blast off in Jamboree!

More than 15 teams participated in Saturday’s Destin Rockets Lacrosse Jamboree at Morgan Sports Center in Destin.

Participating clubs included the Gulf Breeze Dolphins, Lower Alabama Bayhawks, Mobile Mavericks, Outcast Tallahassee and the Destin Rockets.

The Destin Rockets, with a perfect record of 3-0, won the high school flight knocking off Gulf Breeze in the championship 7-5.

Members of the high school Rockets include Austin Dunn, Mitchel Trantina, Cole Nunemaker, Lance Adler, Evan Adler, Robert Romans, Josh Pope, Stetson Miller, Connor May, Trevor Beebe, Connor Lynd and Jake Gorman.

The 13-under Rockets are made up of Trevor Beebe, Clayne Slaven, Jared Herzong, Chandler Duck, Cameron May, Carson Miller, Reece Pope, Triston Davis, Morgan Slaven, Bryce Slaven, Collin Kaufman, Sailor Anderson, Tommy DiMarzio, Jordan Hodgen, Nicholas Howe, Harrison Jourdan, Nicholas Howe and Tyler Kersanac.

From the volunteers who ran concessions, to referees and city staff, the weekend was a “huge success” for the first-ever lacrosse event in Destin, according to Coach Gene Speni of the Destin Rockets.

The Rockets may conduct another tournament in October.
